This said, a traditionally painted surface, after scanned or photo captured, still looks more attractive, shared on the web.Hi, lol. To ask for the equivalent of a real traditional material to a 2k displayed image is quite ridiculous. (lot of pixels needed, I doubt if you will be able to paint decently on a 10k pixels file)Ī real output, not on a 2-3k display (I doubt if you can even share such a file on the web) It could be a 3d CNC router machine (not a 3d print, not really… )Ī nice large 2d print. Our communication is based on displays now? Not attractive at all.Ī good opportunity for me to mention the following: In any case the digital way may not be the best choice. Not so attractive to the curiosity of others? But I am quite likely to have my Macbook Air with me, so I can carry my tablet around with me too and “paint” a few things. I will not take painting stuff to a coffee shop, because a) it would be impractical, and b) it would be immensely embarrassing at my level. (edit) It appears they were aquired by a German company called SAP Oh well, for all it’s bugginess it was a great program. Also it was difficult to migrate from system to system. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that deep paint 3D was a little buggy, and there were problems like not being able to change your monitor resolution without offsetting the cursor when using a tablet. Here’s a download link for the free version. (edit) Looks like right hemisphere ( the company that made deep paint ) no longer exists. I don’t own the free version, so I am not sure if it has curve guides and all that, but as a painting program, I would definitely recommend giving it a try. you can even make your own custom multi-channel image pipes / brushes. it has projection, curve guides, and a lot of other stuff including some very cool brushes. The 3D version, assuming they are still making it is quite costly, but it can load 3D models and paint diffuse, normals, spec, alpha ( etc ) maps on them, all at one time. I think DeepPaint is a wonderful program. I am not sure about Painter (lite) right now, I have had a bit of trouble getting the results I want, but I am sure that it mostly to do with my lack of knowledge of the program AND traditional painting methods. Thanks, another vote for Photoshop - hah, stop making me consider a subscription! It is really the package to use if you workflow depends on masking. You are not going to get digital paintings out of Photoshop looking like traditional work but man it has so many tools that you can use to make art that you wouldn’t normally think of using. I played around with Krita a bit and the way it is developing I would pick it over Mypaint.īut my fav 2d art package will have to be hands down Photoshop. I tried out artrage and painter both pretty good and I think the ones to go for you want to have a natural media feel to your art. A Photoshop brush hits the opacity you set it at and stays there. no matter how low you set your opacity a stroke will reach 100% opacity when you continuously brush over it without lifting off your tablet. It handles opacity like a flow setting so its brushes behave like a PhotoShop brush locked at 100% opacity with low to medium setting, this makes rendering you work is a lot more laborious. Okay this will sound ironic, if you look at my thread, I use MyPaint a lot of late because it’s is about the only software that will run on my laptop but I am not a fan of its brush engine.
